Adding A Kitchen Vent Fan

A customer wanted to update his kitchen with a hood vent. He already had downdraft vent, but they are generally work poorly. He asked me to set up his new vent, see photos below.

I removed an existing can light to make room for the vent.

I drilled a hole in the attic from the attic to avoid the joist. I used this point to make a homemade protractor.

I cut the hole with a jigsaw.
