Expensive houses built in the 1990s often used cedar siding, which was considered a luxury siding. It offered good weather resistance and beauty. However, it is a natural product and eventually lost its status when artificial and more durable sidings were introduced in the 2000s. Like any natural product, cedar siding can crack and rot. My customer wanted to repaint their siding but several of the bottom panels were rotten due to improperly installation. My job was to remove that siding and replace it.
