Shower remodels come in many forms. Some use a fiberglass base and enclosure, nicer ones are constructed from custom tiles. I’m working on a bathroom remodel that goes a step further. We constructed the floor of the stall to angle towards a drain. This allows the tiles above the floor to be contiguous with the rest of the floor, and eliminates the need for a shower curb. This gives the bathroom a custom and upscale look. Naturally, the tiler has to be experienced in this complicated build. See the photo below.

The shower base is contiguous with the rest of the bathroom flooring. However, it is angled towards the drain giving the bathroom an upscale look. There is no need for a curb around the shower.
