It is surprising how little pride some workers take in their craft. It seems like all that they want to do is to complete a job as quickly as possible without taking the extra time for the detail work leaving a job that looks more DIY than professional. A customer had a wood floor added, but the technician left a raw surface next to the door. I remedied that problem with a router, table saw, and some trim. See photos below.

I took an oak board and spent a little time modifying it with a router, a table saw, and a little sandpaper.
I think the finished result looks significantly improved!
