Changing Staircase Posts

I’m restoring a home that suffered significant water damage. This has been an opportunity for the owner to update their 1980’s style house. See photos below for more information.

These are the old staircase posts. They are OK, but dated and definitely builder quality. The owner wanted to change them. Note that the railing connects to the wall at the edge. A less than ideal look.

These are the new posts that I installed. They have a much richer and custom look. Additionally, I’m moving the railing connection to the middle of the wall for esthetic reason.
