Even In Vent Work Details Matter

I’m remodeling a kitchen, and that means a tear down despite that the original layout will remain the same. The original cabinets had a vent deflector built into one of them. This pushed the air from the HVAC unit out through a grill in the bottom of the cabinet. That is not a usual practice. In this case the deflector was made in a quick fashion and hastily nailed in place. It was leaking heated and air conditioned air into the cabinet. With a little bit of extra work I bent the sides to offer a more secure fit that was screwed instead of nailed. I’m sure the customer will never notice this change, but it mattered to me to do the best job possible. See photos.

With a little effort I bent the edges, which will offer a tighter seal that can be screwed instead of nailed. Little efforts add up to produce an overall better result.
