As a general contractor I get to observe all aspects of a home’s construction. As you may surmise, there are many structures that a home owner never sees because they are hidden in the walls, ceilings, and floors. Some of these things have their own unique beauty, if you take the time to look at them.

We recently did a job that involved replacing a home’s entire infrastructure system. That gave us the opportunity to take photos of the new pipes, ducts, and other connections that operate in the background to provide the owner with heat, water, and sanitation. We then adjusted these pictures in a photo editor to give them a little more artistic appeal.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I see beauty in these functional connections. Below are some of the shots from this exercise. I call it functional art.
