I’m doing an extensive basement bathroom remodel. There is a hairline crack in the cement floor, and this can be a potential problem for the tiles that I’ll lay on top of the crack. It is common for cement cracks to widen over time, and if that happens it will crack the tiles above. The solution is to use an anti-fracture membrane on top of the cement, which is a German made product that you can purchase at tile shops. See photos below.

Here you can see the crack. It looks innocent enough, but if it widens it will crack the tile above it.
The tiles will be protected by this anti-fracture mat. Going the extra mile will benefit this customer in the long run.
