A customer wanted me to replace her old vanity which was in good shape but was out of place with her newly remodeled home. Normally, exchanging a vanity is a simple operation. However, the vanity was larger, and had an electric outlet. This meant moving her electric, plumbing, and light fixtures. This turned a simple job into a complex one. See photos for the details.

This is her old vanity. You can get a glimpse of THE original wall sconces as well as the tall cabinet that blocks off the bathroom.
The cabinet and the old light fixtures have been removed. I’m using shims to separate the backsplash from the wall in hopes of preserving the drywall. I was successful in that endeavor.
I had to move the plumbing to accommodate the new sink.
I also had to add an electrical outlet for the vanity (below the plumbing).
I used some scrap underlayment as a template aid for cutting the back of the cabinet. I could have used a sheet of cardboard if I didn’t have the scrap underlayment.
First taping.
Second taping.
Job done. Note that the lights are wider apart to accommodate the new wider vanity. The bathroom look is much improved with the new vanity, mirror, and lights.
