A common task in home remodeling is the re-routing of water pipes. The traditional way to connect pipes is to use solder. This method works, but it can be time consuming and poses problems if there is any moisture present. A faster method is to use a Press Tool. I recently purchased one from Milwaukee, although other companies also make this tool.

The Press Tool uses special fittings that allow the user to secure the fitting with a simple electronic squeeze of the tube’s flange. This is an expensive tool, but it does the job easily, and quickly. I’m sold on this tool!

I wanted to change out this water expansion tank because it was a bit too small.
Here I’m cutting the old connections using a reciprocating saw.
Removing the old tank.
Securing new connections using the Press Tool. No need to solder!
The new, larger tank installed.
The Press Tool. It looks simple, but it makes plumbing work exponentially easier.
